Dark Souls - Character Build (Oroboro's VIT Lightning Weapon Build)

Note: I didn't create this build, I have taken it from here: http://forums.demonssouls.info/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=9742

Anyway so the idea behind the build is to exploit the fact that in Dark Souls weapon scaling doesn't seem particularly good. To get the most out of the character in this case it focuses on using a lightning weapon (great damage without any stat scaling reliance) and putting the majority of points into vitality (and some endurance) for high HP.

So at SL 120 (the old Demon's Souls popular level) we'll look like this:

Stats
VIT: 93
ATT: 10
END: 40
STR: 16
DEX: 14
Rest as default

So we have fairly low STR/DEX, just enough to wield most weapons.

Seems like a good idea for a build. Again, for more info and discussion head over to Oroboro's thread: http://forums.demonssouls.info/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=9742

Dark Souls - How to remove curse

So some people may be suffering from curse, possibly the most irritating and game-breaking affliction.

If you want to know how to cure it then fear no more, follow these steps:

You need a Purging Stone to remove a curse. These can be obtained in a variety of ways:

  • Trade Cracked Red Eye Orbs with Snuggly the Crow. You get 2 purging stones for one orb (however you can only trade once).
  • Purchase from the Undead Merchant female for 6000 souls in the Firelink Shrine aqueduct
  • Purchase from Black robed man for 3000 souls after the Belfrey Gargoyles in the Undead Burg

Use the Purging Stone to remove the curse effect.

I also added this stuff to the wikispaces wiki here: http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/remove_curse

Please comment if you found this useful! :D

Another Dark Souls Wiki!

I previously mentioned the wikispaces wiki for Dark souls which is coming along well, but you can never have too much Dark Souls information.

There is also a wikidot (I'm assuming from the same guys that brought you the Demon's Souls one, such as Ilkar). It has a slightly cleaner and simpler design which some may prefer.

Please visit it here: http://darksouls.wikidot.com/

Enjoy.

Dark Souls box! Finally!

So we're a bit behind in the EU, but I finally got my copy of Dark souls this morning, too bad I have to wait until I get home from work to play it. I can however admire the little art book that comes with it:

It contains some amazing artwork, as well as a sound track CD and a behind the scenes CD. Also, much to my pleasure, on the first page is the wolf! (Sif I'm guessing) Wolves are great:

Epic Playstation advert..."Michael"

So this isn't dark souls related...but it's definitly still post-worthy. If you play a lot of games and get the references in this video, you'll love it. I'm talking serious nerd chills. And if you're name is michael...well, get some tissue ready ;p

Monsters of Dark Souls

Head over to the Playstation blog for some images of the creatures you'll be facing up against in Dark Souls, some of them look pretty terrifying, especially the last one: Gravelord Nito:

Dark Souls Wiki

A wiki has been created at http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/

Those of you who played Demon's Souls will know how useful the old wiki was (http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/), and now with the release of Dark Souls a new one has been created to contain all the information you'll need to survive your way through this brutal game.

As well as information about the game there is also a page you can submit your PSN/Xbox live names so you can find people to play with here:
PSN - http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Playstation+Network+ID+%28PSN%29
XBox - http://darksoulswiki.wikispaces.com/Xbox+Live+Gamertags

There is also a chatango and forums for socialising with other Dark Souls addicts.

Enjoy!

Dark Souls - Reviews in!

So it looks like the masses received Dark Souls well. It's been hyped up since it was announced following the surprising cult success of Demon's Souls, and now the reviews are flowing in giving it heavy praise.

Shame we in the UK have to wait for Friday for the EU release. Come on Dark Souls!
